AID climbing - Type of rock climbing where artificial devices are used to make upward progress (and not just for protection); opposite of free climbing.
About the program
During the course, you will learn key skills for AID climbing on difficult rocky terrain in the mountains. We will work with different types of climbing equipment, considering the difference between points for progression and points for protection. We will also focus on ergonomic and speed, as speed in mountaineering is not only important for the success of an ascent, but also for safety.
AID climbing is an essential part of safe and confident alpine climbing. This program is a part of our Mountaineering course.

- Installing and removing protection.
- Building anchors.
- The basics of AID climbing.
- Ergonomics in AID climbing.
- Using the Russian aider system.
- Climbing easy routes (A1-A2 grade).
Day 2:
- Climbing more challenging routes using skyhooks and hard-to-place protection (A2-A3 grade).
Day 3:
- Working with hand drill equipment.
- Refining the acquired skills.
- Personal feedback.
We provide part of the special climbing equipment such as ropes, slings, AID climbing kits (2 per group), "Birdie" anchor pitons, skyhooks, hand-drill equipment. You will need personal climbing equipment and protection gear:

The program is not suitable for beginners. In order to participate, you should have some mountaineering experience. You should be familiar with basic knots, belaying techniques, abseiling, and jumaring, placing protection, building anchors.
